Frequently Asked Questions

  • Trek is a special stake youth conference participants reenact a pioneer handcart trek. The goals of Trek are to bring young men and young women closer Jesus Christ.

  • We are trekking on a ranch in the mountains near Sweet, Idaho.

    Busses will transport everyone participating in Trek from the stake center to the ranch and back.

  • All youth living within the Star Stake between the ages of 14 and 18.

  • The medical committee will have a variety of medical professionals on hand and will have the ability to provide basic medical care or treat common medical conditions that arise on Trek

  • Each young man or young women will be assigned to a Trek Family. The bishops in the stake have carefully selected “Ma’s and Pa’s” from each ward to lead a family on Trek. There will be 6 - 8 youth in each family.

  • A thrift store like Deseret Industries is a great place to find inexpensive clothing that meets the requirements - don’t wait until the last day to find clothing!

    You can also borrow clothing from someone or make your own - there are patterns online or in the Church’s Trek handbook online.

  • Trek is a tremendous opportunity to get out of the world and worldly influences.

    Leaving electronics at home allows more opportunity for you to feel the Spirit. It also allows you to interact more with your Trek family and be more engaged with Trek experiences.

  • Be sure to list any dietary concerns on your medical form; the food committee will try to accommodate special dietary needs if possible but we can’t guarantee that all dietary needs will be accommodated.

    Talk to your ward Trek representative and also plan to bring some food that meets your needs if possible.
